About Rev. Mateer

In 1980, Paul earned his B.S. in Business Administration from Berea College in Kentucky, and concurrently, he pursued and completed his Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary. The year 1985 marked the reception of his ordination orders, and by 1990, he had further expanded his professional repertoire by becoming a Certified Public Accountant.

For over four decades, Paul has dedicated his life to serving as an ordained minister in the West Virginia Annual Conference. His ministerial journey has taken him to various churches across the state, fostering collaborations with numerous funeral homes.

Throughout this 40-year span, Paul has delivered countless funeral eulogies, providing solace and hope to those grappling with grief.

Beyond his ministerial duties, Paul is an enthusiastic outdoorsman, immersing himself in diverse activities such as hunting, fishing, hiking, and bicycling. His love for the outdoors extends to Summersville Lake, where he enjoys swimming, scuba diving, and a touch of sailing.

In the heart of his life, Paul and his wife Leslie find joy in moments spent with their three children and five grandchildren, creating a foundation of love and connection within their family.​
